So, this month I had the request to do Draco Malfoy. But for a long time I haven't really liked the limbless blobs that I've been making. So, I decided to make a new basic body pattern. Also with this pattern you can make the rest of the Harry Potter charactors along with any other charactor you might come up with. (sorry, by the way, for the bad picture quality)
Notions: G hook
Skin colored yarn
Tapestry Needle
Stitch Marker
Pattern:
Legs(make two)- Ch 2, sc 8 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: inc around
Rnds 2-4: sc around
Rnd 5: Sc 2, dec. around
Rnds 6-7: sc around
Rnd 8: sc 2, dec. around
Rnds 9-16: sc around, FO
Now about joining the legs, what you need to do is sl st through both the legs twice and then continue around the perimeter of the legs.
Body-
Rnds 17-19: sc around
Rnd 20: sc 4, dec. around
Rnds 21- 28: sc around
Rnd 22: sc 3, dec. around
Rnd 23: sca round. FO
Arms (make two)-ch 2, sc 5 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: inc around
Rnds 2-3: sc around
Rnd 4: sc 2, dec. around
Rnds 5-18: sc around. FO and sew to body
Head- ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: inc 2, sc. around
Rnd 2: inc 2, sc 2. around
Rnds 3-9: sc around
Rnd 10: sc 2, dec. around
Rnd 11: sc, dec. around FO and sew to body
And there ya have it! Please let me know if you have any questions or problems with this pattern and e-mail me pictures. <3
Thank you! I'm good at modifying things into what I want, but not at making the pattern from scratch. I have lots of ideas for this already.

ReplyDeleteNot too sure where to ask this... I'm trying to design some clothes for this lil dolly (very cute by the way) and I'm having difficulty with pants! I managed to make a summer style wrap top, a jacket, and a hat already.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if I could put in an early August request to you and ask if you could please add some cool dolly clothing for this awesome doll? Thanks much!
Hello there:
ReplyDeleteI stumbled with your pattern, and for me its a bit difficult to follow, You should say how many stitches aprox are in each row, like (6) (12) ect. That way it can be easily followed, I had a hard time cause I didint know what I was stitching, so I had to come up with personal numbers. And its very stressfull.
But appart from that all worked wonders :3 Thanks!
Not sure if you do this, but I find that using stitch markers to show where the beginning of the row is helped me a lot with making this (and other similar toys). After you finish the row you simply move the marker up to the beginning of the next row. See here for a better explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stitch_marker_%28crochet%29
DeleteAnd see here on what they look like when using on a project: http://www.freepatterns.com/content/content.html?content_cat_id=3&type_id=R&month=1&year=2008
Although you can buy them at places like Walmart or local yarn shops, you can make them yourself with no trouble. You could even use a small paper clip to mark the place... they don't have to be anything fancy!
Here's a great blog to show someone who got fancy with their paperclips: http://www.futuregirl.com/craft_blog/2006/9/paper-clip-stitch-markers.aspx
Hope this helped you :) Happy stitching!
I don't have any stitch markers, but I've found that bobby-pins work just as well!
DeleteI don't use stitch markers, so here's your pattern with my notes, showing what I did:
ReplyDeleteLegs(make two)- Ch 2, sc 8 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: inc around (16)
Rnds 2-4: sc around (16)
Rnd 5: Sc 2, dec. around (12)
Rnds 6-7: sc around (12)
Rnd 8: sc 2, dec. around (9)
Rnds 9-16: sc around (9)
FO
Now about joining the legs, what you need to do is sl st through both the legs twice (2)
And continue around the perimeter of the legs (18)
Body
Rnds 17-19: sc around (18)
Rnd 20: sc 4, dec. around (15)
Rnds 21-28: sc around (15)
Rnd 22 (This should actually be round 29): sc 3, dec. around (12)
Rnd 23 (This should actually be round 30): sc around. (12)
FO
Head- ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook. (6)
Rnd 1: inc 2, sc. around (10)
Rnd 2: inc 2, sc 2. around (12, not all stitches worked)
Rnds 3-9: sc around (12)
Rnd 10: sc 2, dec. around -- (9)
Rnd 11: sc, dec (6)
FO and sew to body

Thank you. You are really helping me in making the doll. But what about the arm? You did not mention it here.
DeleteYears later this is helping me crochet my 1st doll. Thank you!
DeleteHow tall is this?
ReplyDeleteCan you further explain the leg joining?
ReplyDeleteMy head turned out weird and long and I'm not sure I like it. Everything else was awesome though! I think I'm gonna redo it with a larger more round head so it looks more like your picture cuz I like the look of that better.
ReplyDeletedid you find a different head as mine turned out weird too
DeleteMine turned out skinny and long but I worked it again and found I wasn't counting the stitches correctly. Try it again, it does work.
DeleteSo for the head, if you want it rounder:
DeleteHead- ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
For the next row, I inc one in each sc around making 12 stitches. Then each round becomes one higher.
Rnd 1: inc 2, sc. around (Rnd 2, 18)
Rnd 2: inc 2, sc 2. around (Rnd 3 24)
Rnds 3-9: sc around (Rnd 4-10 24)
Rnd 10: sc 2, dec. around (Rnd 11 18)
Rnd 11: sc, dec. around (Rnd 12 12)
Add one more round of decreases leaving 6 sc then
FO and sew to body.
Hope this helps!
Jen
yeah My head came out all wrong too...think I will just go find a sphere pattern similar and go from there....
ReplyDeleteI am really excited about trying this pattern out. However I am having a hard time trying to understand some of your abbreviations. What is: inc and dec?
ReplyDeleteInc = increase or two stitch in one stitch. Dec = decease. These are basic crochet abbreviations. Any others ones you need can easy be found on goggle by looking up crochet abbreviations. :)
DeleteWhat do you mean by Inc and dec
ReplyDeleteOn the steps for the head
DeleteHello! I love your doll! I had left off crocheting for several years now in favour of cross stitch, but found Arigurumi dolls when searching for a birthday present/Mother's Day gift lately, and stumbled across your pattern! I'm sure mine's all wonky and mis-stitched and deliciously unique (XD), but I believe I found a mistake? It's just numbers - in the stitching of the body, you have written 'Rnds 21- 28: sc around' but then the next directions say 'Rnd 22' and 'Rnd 23.' I was really confused that I was doing something wrong for a while until I realized. Hopefully the rest of my stitching will conform to your pattern and turn out as nicely as yours did!
ReplyDeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for sharing your pattern. I am a relatively new crocheter, only 2 years in activity, but I am beginning to have orders and I need to make some presents too...
Thank you very much!
Hi, how do you attach the head and arms to the body?
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this pattern in an easier to read format. I think it is adorable pattern and I am going to make it. I do not have flesh yarn so I am going to use white and see how that looks. I am looking forward to making a doll.
ReplyDeletewhat does FO mean ????? please help me
ReplyDeleteFinish off.
DeleteWhat does FO mean ?
ReplyDeletefor dec. do u do one sc on one stitch?
ReplyDeletei dont get it.
ex: Rnd 5: Sc 2, dec. around
I'd love to make this doll but the explanation of the pattern is really hard to follow. No definitions whatsoever about some concepts. It's a shame because there's people who is just starting on crochet. Being this a BASIC doll, the pattern should be more detailed. Thanks for publishing, anyways.
ReplyDeleteWhat does so st mean? Any advice or tips on joining the legs to the body?
ReplyDeleteSc means single crochet (US term). If you're from the UK, then sc is the same as double crochet. Sc st means single crochet stitch. Hope this helps!
DeleteHow big is this doll once it's completed? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteDid stuff the doll?
ReplyDeleteRight here
ReplyDeleteRnd 8: sc 2, dec.around do I do it every time?
how tall is this doll please?
ReplyDeleteThis was so easy and it worked out great :) thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so so much!
Xoxoxo

Hello I was just going to ask. Is there any crochet clothes for this doll? Because I really would like that pattern. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI used this pattern to make a doll for my niece 4 years ago. Now I have been asked to make another one for one of her friends! I'm also making one for a new niece on the way. Thank you for the perfect body!
