Belt's and Hair:
I'm not great at explaining how to apply hair, so your better off without me. But I'm sure if you run Amigurumi hair tutorial through Google you'll find something. The belts are simple enough. Simply make a ch that fits around the waist and sc across. Same for the chest (?) belt. Haha, whatever. Have fun everybody.

I'd love to hear what you think of the pattern.
My summer was a busy and exciting one, including a trip to the amazing and wonderful city of Chicago. I probably should have mentioned this, but usually during the summer I take a break from my crochet to make sure that I never get sick of my craft. But now school is starting and so our my ideas. I expect some great things from my brain this year. And I think I might explore the realm of hats, gloves and scarves a little more this winter. Something I little more inventive then amigurumi but not as hard as designing coats, shirts etc.. But not to worry, I still expect to find some great characters hidden in my skiens of yarn.

Anyway, I'd like to see what you think. It's time for pattern requests. You know how this works, so I won't bother giving you the rules. I know some of you out there are wanting clothes for the basic body pattern I made. Here is where you can ask for them. Please ask for the specific costume of a character not simply clothing idems. Picture links are helpful and I'll be taking comments until Septembet 6th.Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-56878289519837443852011-06-30T12:10:00.000-07:002011-06-30T15:08:47.665-07:00Gone, But Will Return Soon
Hey everyone, just wanted to let you all know that, sadly, part 2 of June pattern requests has been cancelled. My brother went into surgery today (gladly nothing to serious) and I'm not able to finish the pattern, at least for right now. I hope to come back to it sometime. I want to apologize to everyone, and say that, hopefully, I'll be back soon with more new patterns. Anyway, here's a little humor to brighten your day :)

Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-81312860587519872482011-06-28T08:52:00.000-07:002011-07-04T14:27:55.034-07:00Basic Amigurumi Body

<img border="0" height="320" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3LzkWmXI7V7Rot2jS9F8_P-rfaTKbf_LZbCOpJ0Qokj1gThb1Gm6afG9MI-giEXe4DcTQl1Ij_RNOUbFIpyvewe6hHfW79P5ZVvjU00mSHOGQ2noX5odfP3B1QNrQFLvbaxErWcW5LqSl/s320/Project+1.bmp" width="240" />So, this month I had the request to do Draco Malfoy. What would monster week be without a cute Robot. This adorable one is called Dakk and you can find him here. He would make a great gift for anyone who has a toddle, or a husband who likes robots and would go for that kind of thing. Have fun!Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-3592768112549828822011-06-16T11:38:00.000-07:002011-06-16T11:38:12.690-07:00Monster Week-ThursdayNo creepy collection is complete without the Creepy Cute Crochet Book. This book is full of monsters, robots and ninjas. I've actually gotten to use this book, and I would totally recommend it.
If you don't know how to crochet already it gives good, understandable, instructions for all the stitches you need to know. Not only does it use written instructions in the patterns but also charts and diagrams to make everything extra clear. Don't know how to read any of that? It explains that too. This is a good book to get if your just starting crocheting or pattern reading but you don't want to do some lame-o scarf. (Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for scarves, just not beginner scarves)

For about $10 you get 21 adorable patterns. You can order it on amazon, here. And think of the armies you could create!! Ninja armies! Zombie armies! Gladiator armies! Skeleton armies! Just think of all the armies!!! So many, many possibilities!

ORDER IT NOW!! I COMMAND YOU!! BUILD YOUR GLORIOUS EMPIRE! (and send me pictures, I wanna see)
Here's how to make it.

Ingredients : 1 large Tilapia fillet

2 pieces of whole wheat, 12 grain, bread

Bruchetta ( You can buy it pre-made, or make it yourself)

1 chopped yellow bell peper (optional)

1 chopped red bell pepper (optional)

Olive Oil

Sliced Portabella Mushrooms (optional)

Put about 1 1/2 tablespoons of olive oil into a small skillet over medium heat. Let it heat up for 2 minute and then place your Tilapia and mushrooms into the pan. When the Tilapia turns completely white, use your spatula to break it into pieces. Now my bruchetta was pre-made and also had both read and yellow peppers in it. If your bruchetta does not you'll want to add them on your own. Add between 1/4 and 1/2 of bruchetta, to taste. Let the mixture cook for 2-3 minutes or until cooked through. Drain off any excess oil. Put on a little garlic powder the bread and then toast. Then place the mixture on top of each piece. The garnish is simply a couple lemon mint leaves but you could really put anything on there as a garnish. (Chopped chives would look very nice)

You could also make appetizers with this as well. Simply use small bread squares instead of full pieces of bread. Enjoy :)
Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-52416553492823545062011-06-15T08:23:00.000-07:002011-06-15T08:23:57.283-07:00Monster Week-WednesdayToday on Monster Week we have this lovely, Yetty like, mountain spirit. Some might think this little guy is to cute to be called a monster and say he should really be called a creature. Well I say same difference. He's to awesome not to be featured this week.

His name is Chi-Kore and his pattern costs about 5$, but it's totally worth it I say. I mean, look at this little guy! He's the picture of cuteness. I have to commend the designer for her good choices of color. I think the thing works really well.
The pattern, as previously stated, is about $5 and has very clear instructions along with 15 helpful photos. His ravelry page and also where you can purchase his pattern is here.
I hope you've enjoyed today's Monster post, and I'll see you back here tomorrow for more monster mischief.Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-24436386315435166832011-06-13T07:01:00.000-07:002011-06-13T07:01:12.485-07:00Monster Week!!I officially declare this week Monster Week!!
This little Frankenstien girl is probably one of the cutest things I've seen on ravelry. She is so cute! You can find her ravelry page here, and the actual pattern blog page here. I haven't made her yet but I totally intend to when I find the time.

And what says cute and creepy like a Franken Bunny? I don't know what this girl's obsession with Frankenstien is, but it sure does translate into a lot of cute creatures! You can find the pattern blog page for this creepy cute little thing here.

And that's it for Monster Week Monday! Hope to see you back here tomorrow for some more creepy cute fun!Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-31544117676172070562011-06-09T12:58:00.000-07:002011-06-21T09:05:39.008-07:00Pattern: Yogi Bear

Yogi Bear. Yet another adorable cartoon made during the golden age of cartoons that people can't seem to get enough of. I love Yogi, so I was extremely shocked not to find a single pattern for him anywhere. So being the designer that I am, I made one. And as always it's here for all of you to use for free.

Notions: G hook
F hook
Light Brown and Tan and light Green yarn
Small amount of Black yarn
Black and White felt
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
Fiber fill (I always forget to put that on the list)
Hot glue gun

Body: With LB yarn and G hook, ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: Inc around
Rnd 2: Sc, inc, round
Rnd 3: Sc 2, inc, around
Rnds 4-9: Sc around
Rnd 10: Sc 3, inc, around
Rnds 11-13: Sc around
Rnd 14: Sc 4, inc, around
Rnds 15-19: Sc around
Rnd 20: Sc 5, inc, around
Rnd 21: Sc 4, dec, around
Rnd 22: Sc 3, dec, around
Rnd 23: Sc 2, dec, around
Rnd 24: Sc, dec, around
Stuff.
Rnd 25: dec around
Fasten off and sew hole closed.

Nose: With black yarn and F hook, ch 2, sc 6 in second ch from hook.
Rnd 1: Sc around
Rnd 2: Inc around
Switch to tan yarn
Rnd 3: Inc in next 3 sts, sc in rest
Rnd 4: ( Sc, inc) 3 times. sc in rest
Rnd 5: Sc around
Rnd 6: Sc, dc inc, dc 2, sc, sl st 3, sc, dc 2, dc inc, sc, sl st 5.
Fasten off and lightly stuff. Sew unto front of head.

Legs: (Make 2) With LB and G hook, ch 2, sc 5 in second ch from hook.
Rnds 1-5: Sc around
Rnd 6: Inc around
Rnds 7&8: Sc around
Row 9: Sc, ch 1 and turn. Sc 4 across.
Rows 10&11: ch 1, sc across. Fasten off and sew to body.

Now you should have something that looks like this (Lower right) .
If you fold the long skinny part to the left, like the left picture, and sew it in that position you'll have the left leg. Fold it to the right and you'll have the right leg. The tab at the top helps make the leg flow naturally into the body when to sew it.
Collar & Tie: For the tie, (make 2) ch 7 and sl st in second ch from hook and rest. Fasten off. Glue together and then glue to Yogi. The collar is simply a white piece of felt glued to Yogi and over top the tie. I liked the felt because it looks really clean.
The May pattern is here. Because some people wouldn't put in any requests, pattern requests almost went down the drain. But thankfully I was saved at the last minute and worked really hard to get this pattern done, it's a little late but no biggie.
Now, this is a character from Stargate and, sadly, I've never seen Stargate. My parents are strict about tv and Stargate is one of those things that's still off limits. I'm stuck watching older classics like Star Trek and Macgyver, but that's ok because I like that kind of thing. Anyway, because of never having seen Stargate I apologize for any sloppiness or any details that aren't correct.
Now, you'll see this style of amigurumi quite a lot. One of which is the May Pattern Request pattern. The whole pattern request idea almost fell through the roof with no comment ideas from anyone but luckily I was saved by one of my new followers Lisa, who just sent in a great last minute idea yesterday. I'm currently hard at work on that idea and also a pattern that I think you'll all love. They should be up in the next week or so, so stick around! HopeHope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-50799407016257064122011-05-19T05:17:00.000-07:002011-05-21T05:03:11.452-07:00May Pattern RequestsEver wish there was a pattern for something but could never find one? Well now, every month you tell me a character, I'll make it and post the free pattern within the next week.
Rules:

It must be a character from a cartoon, tv show or movie

I must be able to find pictures of the character on google

Comment on this post giving your idea

They started making them around the time I was born. I LOVE them. We have a eight member family so going to the movies for 7 bucks a kid isn't exactly cheap. But every year during the summer we always go and see the new Pixar movie. It's kinda like a tradition. Anyway, anyone who likes Pixar movies knows that one of the best parts is the short film at the beginning. So today I've recreated two of the character from one of my favorites. Day & Night.
If you haven't seen it, watch it!
Almost every gamer does. And there are a LOT of Mario patterns out there. So to make it a little easier on all you Mario lovers, I've made a little collection of the very best, (and free) Mario patterns. All made by the wonderful Linda Potts who makes a lot of amazing patterns for free. Along with Mario and a boat load of adorable creatures she has also made characters from Pokemon and Sonic.
And, being a fan of Batman myself, I couldn't resist. So, this cute, caped crusader was born. The pattern is as follows:

Notions: G hook
Black, silver, and cream Simply Soft yarn
Black and white felt
St marker
Tapestry needle

Pattern: Starting in black, Ch 2
Sc 8 in 2nd ch from hook.
Rnd 2: (sc, inc) repeat around
Rnd 3: (sc 2, inc) repeat around
Rnds 4+5: sc around
Rnd 6: sc 10 in black, sc 5 in cream, dec in black (making nose), sc 5 in cream, sc 10 in black
Rnd 7+8: sc 10 in black, sc 10 in cream, sc 10 in black
Rnd 9: sc around in black
Rnds 10-14: sc around in silver
Rnd 15: sc around in black. Do NOT fasten off.
Legs:
Sc 1 into st exactly opposite your current st. (The one on the other side of the circle) Thus splitting the circle in two. Each side should have 15 sts.
Rnd 16: sc 6 in black, sc 3 in silver, sc 6 in black
Rnd 17: sc 4 in black, sc 7 in silver, sc 4 in black
Rnd 18: sc 2 in black, sc 11 in silver, sc 2 in black
Rnds 19+20 sc around in silver
Rnd 21: sc around in black
Rnd 22: (in back of sts) sc around in black.
Fasten off and sew the remaining hole closed.

Repeat on other leg.

Cape:
In Black
On rnd 9, sc across 13 sts by inserting your hook around the already existing st and crocheting like it's a normal rnd. There should be 3 black sts on either side of the cape before the face.
Row 2: Sc across
Row 3: Inc in 1st st, sc across, inc in last st
Rows 4+5: sc across
Row 6: inc, sc across, inc in last st
Row 7+8: sc across
Row 9: inc, sc across, inc
Row 10: sc across
Row 11: inc, sc across, inc
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Ears, Make 2
With black, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook. Hdc in next st. Dc in last 2 sts. Fasten off and sew to head.

Finishing:

For the face, cut out two small triangles from the white felt for the eyes, and a small strip from the black for the mouth. There are several different ways you can arrange the eyes to make different expressions.

But be careful, if you get the clue anywhere else besides where you want it won't came off. And even though it's clear, it's visible.
We always feel immensely happy and even relieved that winter is at an end and summer is very near at hand. One morning, during my spring brake, I happened to walk outside and notice this beautiful yellow flower blooming among all the gross, degrading leaves of last fall. And I just felt so full of the hope of summer.

My crafty life was also very surprising during spring brake. I accomplished many things I would never have expected out of one weeks time. The first two are drawing that I did, that were completely beyond my skill level.
But I don't have the "eye" for it. Very often I have ideas that would look amazing on paper but some how they never get there. I can't ever seem to draw what's in my head. But I am good at copying things done be other people. Anyway I thought these were, for me, very good, even though they could be better. There are also other things that I finished over brake but they'll wait for another day.
Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-21800667717812804602011-03-15T13:22:00.000-07:002011-03-15T13:22:48.183-07:00Project Idea: Project Lion Head

I am a huge fan of Harry Potter (what teen isn't). I was skeptical at first but the minute I started reading them I feel in love with the series. One of my favorite characters is Luna Lovegood. So I was thinking about what crazy project I could take on from Harry Potter and then I thought of it! Luna's Lion Hat!! How awesome would it be to have a replica of this truly fantastic hat? It's perfect. Crazy, BIG, and utterly magnificent. I have the idea, so now I'll I need is a plan and the materials.Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-89754084541829951532011-03-03T14:56:00.000-08:002011-03-03T14:56:18.611-08:00Yet Another Crazy Fiber Artist Who Completely Dwarfs Me

Pictures speak a thousand words. Shauna RichardsonHope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-54164301026752641082011-02-26T15:01:00.000-08:002011-02-26T15:01:19.139-08:00Now That's Crazy

This tree cozy was made by a woman named Carol Hummel. Her fiber art inspires me. I mean, think how dedicated someone has to be to their art to do something like this. This project took her 500 hours to complete. FIVE. HUNDRED. HOURS! That's dedication. I'm seriously thinking about taking on a project like this over the summer. If not a small tree, then maybe something more like this:

Some people even just make scarves and tie them around the necks of statues. Although the more complicated they are the more I love 'em. But hey, no one said art had to be complicated.Hope Furnohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06341463444640682249noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9072485262074913690.post-75033944313683078822011-02-24T11:43:00.000-08:002011-06-29T13:05:55.287-07:00Pattern: Crazy Little Octopus
